Nestor's Archive
A helping hand for Tintin collectors.
What is this archive?
This application allows you to catalog your personal Tintin albums, scan barcodes using your device camera, dynamically pull book data, and save custom photos or condition notes.
Why do I need an account?
- Data Privacy: Your archive is stored in a private cloud vault. Your collection list belongs exclusively to you.
- Multi-Device Sync: Access your catalog seamlessly. Scan a barcode on your mobile phone at a flea market, and view it instantly on your tablet or desktop computer at home.
- Safe Backups: If you lose your phone or clear your browser cookies, your hard-earned archive remains securely backed up in the cloud.
About the Project
I am a lifelong Tintin fan from Belgium. Over the years, my multi-language collection grew to a point where I lost track of exactly which editions and translations I actually owned. After accidentally buying duplicate albums at garage sales and comic shops, I tried managing everything in clunky Excel spreadsheets. When I couldn't find a dedicated mobile app that did exactly what I needed, I decided to build Nestor's Archive myself.

Nestor's Archive
Your personal collection tracker in your pocket.
Welcome to Nestor's Archive. This tool is designed to help you track your collection, automatically fetch book metadata using your camera, and prevent you from accidentally buying duplicates at comic shops or garage sales.
How We Categorize
Hergé's universe is vast. To keep your archive organized, we divide books into four distinct clusters. The app will try to guess the category automatically when you scan, but you can always adjust it manually:
-
Standard Album (1-24):
The classic, widely available color adventures of Tintin, from Land of the Soviets to Alph-Art. -
Facsimile / Original:
The highly sought-after original black-and-white reproductions, or early cloth-spine (dos toilé) vintage color editions. -
Special Edition:
Colorized versions of vintage B&W albums, anniversary box sets, pop-up books, and other limited releases. -
Non-Fiction & Biography:
Books exploring Hergé's life, the historical context of the comics, art books, and behind-the-scenes meta-topics.
Pro Tips for Collectors
-
🔍
Instant Search & Prevent Duplicates:
At a shop? Use the search bar in your archive to instantly filter by title, keyword, or ISBN to see if you already own a book. The scanner will also warn you immediately if you scan a duplicate. -
📸
Custom Photos:
If the API can't find a book cover, use the "Upload Custom Photo" button. The app will automatically shrink and compress your camera's photo into a thumbnail so it doesn't crash your phone's memory! -
✏️
Edit & Delete:
Made a mistake or upgrading to a better copy? Click "Edit" on any saved book to pull it back into the form, or "Delete" to remove it entirely. -
🧠
Override the Databases:
Comic databases aren't perfect! If a scan returns a generic series name instead of the album title, simply type over the fetched text to correct it before hitting save.
